
Michael Tedesco is one of the top Technology dealmakers of his generation, with 23 years experience advising CEOs and boards of companies at all stages of their lifecycle. Based in Silicon Valley since 2001, he has advised on 100+ completed M&A and financing transactions with aggregate value in excess of $125B. This includes many high profile, market-transforming transactions in Technology such as the Peoplesoft takeover defense and subsequent sale to Oracle; EDS sale to HP; IBM’s acquisitions of Cognos & PWC Consulting; and the HP/Compaq merger. Such advisory roles were recognized five times for the Investor Dealers Digest Technology Deal of the Year.
Michael‘s last role at an institutional Investment Bank was Head of US M&A and Global Technology M&A at Jefferies from 2010-2014. Previously, he held a similar M&A role at Citi Global Markets and its predecessor Salomon Brothers, where he also served as co-head of Americas Technology Banking.
Michael is a Founder & Managing Partner at Momentum Cyber, which he co-founded in 2018 along with Dave DeWalt and Eric McAlpine. Momentum Cyber is the premier trusted strategic advisor to the Cybersecurity industry providing bespoke high-impact advice combined with tailored senior-level access from early stage to exit. Prior to co-founding Momentum Cyber, Michael was Founder & Executive Chairman of Momentum Partners, the precursor to Momentum Cyber.
Since launching Momentum Cyber, Michael has led the execution for the firm’s most valued clients including: CYDERES / Herjavec Group, Herjavec Group / Apax Partners, iBoss / Francisco Partners, JASK / Sumologic, Weblife / Proofpoint, Interset / Microfocus, Icebrg / Gigamon, Reciprocity / Franciso Partners, ADT (multiple buyside advisory) and PWC’s series of acquisitions.
In 2022, the merger of Fishtech Group and Herjavec Group to create CYDERES was recognized as the Deal of The Year in Cybersecurity by SC Media. In 2021, the sale of Herjavec Group to Apax Partners was recognized as the Private Equity Deal of The Year by the M&A Atlas Awards. In 2020, Momentum Cyber was recognized as the Most Innovative Cyber M&A Firm by the Cyber Defense Magazine.
Michael earned a Harvard MBA with High Distinction (Baker Scholar and John Loeb Finance Fellow) and a BSci Industrial Engineering from Montana State University. He lives with his family in Menlo Park and enjoys investing, riding his motorcycle, collecting wine, and an annual fly fishing / ranch vacation to his home state of Montana, where he tries (but fails) to keep up with his two daughters on horseback. He once made a final table in the World Series of Poker, finishing 5th in the Pot Limit Hold’em World Championship and generating a 23x return.
